At your site, some individuals may need to be restricted from accessing the premises. This restriction is managed through a blocklist.

With NineID, you can efficiently manage this blocklist, ensuring unwanted individuals are denied access regardless of their employer or role.

Setting Up the Blocklist

The blocklist can be configured in two ways:

  1. By Site Admins – through the Configuration menu.

  2. By System Admins – through the Users section (with the correct permissions).

Adding Users to the Blocklist

There are three ways to add users to the blocklist:

1. Add Individually

  • Go to the blocklist.

  • Click Add Item.

  • Fill in the required form with the user’s details.

2. Block from the Active User List

  • From the active user list, select the user.

  • Click Block User.

  • Enter the necessary information to confirm the block.

👉 See here for more details on how to block a user via the user profile.

3. Import a Blocklist

  • The NineID Support Team can import a blocklist on your behalf.

  • Request the template and instructions by emailing [email protected].

Process

When a new or existing user matches the blocklist, the following occurs:

  • The user is still created in the system, but no invite is sent.

  • The user is automatically put “In Review”.

  • A notification message will appear.

Matching Logic

A user will be flagged and put in review if:

  • Their email and phone number match exactly with a blocked user.

  • Their name is an approximate match to a blocked user.

  • Their name and date of birth match an entry in the blocklist.

  • Their ID number matches exactly.

Revalidating a User

If a blocked user needs to be re-activated:

  1. First, remove the user from the blocklist.

  2. Then, go to the user’s profile and click Revalidate.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • The reason for blocking is tracked in the user logs, not in the blocklist itself.

  • A newly invited user that matches the blocklist will still be created but flagged as in review. After saving the newly created user, the following message will appear.
